Lars Mikkelsen3-765x1024He entered the National Theatre School of Denmark at the age of 27. He graduated in 1995. In addition to his role in the drama series aired in the world under the name The Killing, he subsequently participated in two other internationally acclaimed Danish drama series, Those Who Kill and Borgen III. He also played a pivotal role in the BBC drama Sherlock where he played blackmailer Charles Augustus Magnussen. In the American TV show House of Cards, he played the role of the president of Russia. In 2018, he took home an International Emmy Award for his part as the president of Russia in the Danish television drama Herrens Veje. It was shown in the UK in the year 2019. He has stated that his brother and he first began learning English by listening to Monty Python records and learning the comedy sketches.
