Angela Maria Ani DiFranco (born Angela Maria Ani DiFranco) is a American and Canadian singer-songwriter. She's released over 20 albums. DiFranco's songs are classified as folk or alternative rock. But, they include influences from jazz hip hop punk and Funk. Ani DiFranco, who is widely known as a female icon, and Grammy award-winning musician is widely regarded as to be the father of DIY music. It was one of the pioneers to establish their own labels in the year 1990. DiFranco was born on September 23, 1970 in Buffalo, New York. She is the daughter of Elizabeth (Ross), who had the pleasure of meeting Dante Americo DiFranco while studying at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
